Content created and presented by: https://www.superteacher.in Description: This story is based on the research of American Professor Alison Gopnik. In a study, two groups of children were given a toy that did multiple things like squeaking, play music, etc. Group A was given instruction by the teacher on how the toy worked while no instruction was given to group B. It was found that Group, who had a teacher's instruction, did not explore it further than the directions given by the teacher. However, Group B, not only discovered the way it worked, as well as several different other mechanisms that weren’t immediately obvious. Need not to mention the study was conducted in scientifically valid environments. Psychologists are drawing the conclusion that “Teaching kids at a very early age is counterproductive to their learning with usual and conventional methods.” It inhibits creativity, and also hinders a child’s natural curiosity to discover how the world works. But..it doesn't mean that kids should not learn at a very early age at all… But the teaching method should be grossly Exploratory and Experiential with almost-complete-autonomy.
