You will work on OD3ON's video streaming service: ingest, transcode, package, deliver, play back. The hard parts of moving real video from a creator's upload to a fan's screen, at quality, at scale, when the file is huge and the network is not. You will write serious software, review as if the product were yours, and help a small team stay fast without getting sloppy.
What you will do
- Design and ship the streaming pipeline, ingest, transcoding, packaging, CDN delivery, playback, with an eye on latency, quality, cost, and failure modes.
- Work primarily in Rust, C++, and Python. You do not need to be equally deep in all three, but you should be dangerous in more than one.
- Raise the bar: code review, observability, and the kind of documentation another engineer can trust at 2 a.m.
- Sit with product when it matters. We are too small for a wall between “the ticket” and “the user.”
Who you are
- A senior engineer. You have shipped systems that stayed up, not only demos that looked good on a slide.
- Comfortable in systems languages and in Python when it is the right tool.
- Experience in video (codecs, streaming, transcoding, playback) is a huge plus.
- You must be a U.S. citizen or hold a permanent visa that allows you to work in the United States. We cannot sponsor.
- You can work remotely, and you can also show up in Cheyenne when the work needs a room, a whiteboard, and the same timezone as the founders.
Location
Hybrid. Remote is allowed. You should expect periods of work on-site in Cheyenne, Wyoming, not a yearly off-site, real stretches with the team. When you are here, you get the part of the job no video call can fake: the founding crew, the plains light, and weekends where the Grand Tetons are a few hours west instead of a wallpaper.
Wyoming is not a consolation prize for not being in a coastal office. It is the setting on purpose. Clear air, empty roads, mountains that still look like a dare. Come for the code. Stay for the horizon.
Compensation
Pay at market, adjusted for profile and experience. Stock options are part of the package.
